Auburn recently hosted four-star OT Austin Troxell as part of Big Cat Weekend, but the Tigers can’t claim sole favorite status. It’s looking like the top prospect from Alabama is still split on which side he’ll take in the Iron Bowl rivalry.
When discussing his recruitment with SEC Country’s Chris Kirschner, Troxell said Auburn and Alabama are still neck and neck.
“I wouldn’t say it’s different. It’s still 50-50 right now,” Troxell said. “I love both schools. I’m still really torn on the decision. I really don’t know what I’m going to do. I really like both places, so it’s just going to be whatever fits me best.”
Auburn’s push for Troxell, an Under Armour All-American, focuses on the Tigers’ need for help on the o-line.
“Every time I see (Malzahn), he’s constantly reminding me of the need for tackles,” Troxell said.
AU currently has six commitments for 2017, including five-star OT Calvin Ashley. Alabama also has one five-star offensive tackle publicly committed, Alex Leatherwood. The Tigers are trying to flip Leatherwood, who also visited The Plains this weekend.
