Ole Miss knocked off LSU last weekend for the program’s first victory vs. a top-5 Tiger team since 1965. Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss had a lot to do with it. As a result, the senior has been rewarded as the AP National Player of the Week.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound Chambliss passed for 314 yards and a touchdown, along with rushing for 71 yards in Ole Miss‘ 24-19 victory vs. LSU on Saturday. Chambliss iced the upset with a 20-yard pass on fourth down with 1:46 left.
Chambliss was also selected as the SEC Offensive Player of the Week and was 1 of the Manning Award Stars of the Week.
So far this season, the Michigan native has certainly played like a star, as he’s thrown for 1,033 yards with 5 touchdowns, 1 interception and the fifth-best QBR in the nation (87.6). The dual-threat Chambliss has rushed for 2 touchdowns this season.
Chambliss began his college career at Division II Ferris State (2022-24), where he captured a pair of national championships.
Chambliss and No. 4 Ole Miss are now on a bye week. The Rebels will resume their season with a home matchup vs. Washington State on Oct. 11 (12:45 p.m. ET/SEC Network). It’ll be the first-ever meeting between the programs.
