Trinidad Chambliss leads Ole Miss on impressive opening drive for a TD

The No. 13 Ole Miss Rebels are once again rolling with backup quarterback Trinidad Chambliss against the Tulane Green Wave, and the former Ferris State Bulldog is picking things right back up where he left them off last weekend against Arkansas.

The senior gunslinger got the ball for the Rebs to start the game, and proceeded to march them down the field on a methodical drive that was capped off by a 5-yard strike to senior tight end Dae’Quan Wright in the end zone for a touchdown.

Chambliss showed once again why Lane Kiffin and the rest of the Rebels’ coaching staff have quickly fallen in love with the senior transfer, as he expertly carved up the Green Wave defense with both his arm and his legs.

Chambliss’s emergence has been a godsend in the absence of star sophomore quarterback Austin Simmons, who has been dealing with a nagging ankle injury over the past couple of weeks.

Simmons was knocked out of the Rebels’ Week 3 matchup against the Arkansas Razorbacks, and Chambliss came in and operated the Ole Miss offense like he had been the starter there for 3 years.

His 400+ total yard, 3 total touchdown performance against the Razorbacks nabbed him several player of the week honors, and also helped guide the Rebels to a much-needed 41-35 victory over one of their bigger rivals.

It’s clear that Chambliss has quickly grown accustomed to the life of playing quarterback at the SEC level, and he could end up snagging the starting job under center away from Simmons permanently if he continues lighting things up like he has the past couple of weeks.
