Tua time? Alabama’s freshman backup QB will reportedly get some playing time in Sugar Bowl

When the Alabama Crimson Tide kick off their Sugar Bowl matchup against Clemson on Monday night, they’ll do so with sophomore Jalen Hurts as their starting quarterback.
However, they might add a bit of a wrinkle into their game plan, according to an AL.com report.
That wrinkle? Giving freshman backup QB Tua Tagovailoa some playing time against the Tigers:
Freshman Tua Tagovailoa is expected to play some, working in conjunction with starter Jalen Hurts, according to sources.
Tagovailoa is a true freshman, but has appeared on a few occasions for the Tide this season in relief of Hurts.
He is a strong passer, so he could be brought in to throw the ball on a couple of drives when the Tide want to switch things up.
Will it work? That remains to be seen, but it’ll be exciting to find out when the freshman gets on the field.
