Tyler Booker shares what jumps out about Michigan ahead of Rose Bowl matchup
Tyler Booker is wary of how dangerous Michigan is on both sides of the ball.
Booker appeared on Monday’s edition of The Next Round to preview the Rose Bowl. After watching the film on the Wolverines, the 1st thing that jumped out to him about them was how technically sound and athletically gifted they were. Booker explained how that can be a deadly combination.
“They’re very technically sound, but along with being technically sound they’re very athletically gifted. That’s a very dangerous combination,” said Booker. “They have all the attributes and ability, but once you add technique with it and their very high football IQ, it’s gonna be a great challenge for us. I’m looking forward to going against them.”

Michigan is one of a kind, but Booker emphasized the importance of not comparing one opponent to another. He spoke about the dangers of playing the comparison game with defenses in college football today.
“We really don’t like to compare 1 opponent to another. They’re really one of a kind. Everybody does something differently, but if you go into a game like oh, they look like team X and they do something that team X isn’t doing, you kind of shortchange yourself and then give that you’re playing as much as credit as they deserve,” said Booker. “Yeah, they’re a really good group and they don’t look like anybody else, but it’s hard to find one defense or defensive line in college football that’s similar to another.”
The Crimson Tide and Wolverines last played each other in the Citrus Bowl in 2020. Alabama won that game 35-16. This season’s matchup is now for a spot in the national championship game. The winner of the Rose Bowl will book their ticket to Houston.
