Kentucky may have dodged a bullet in Saturday’s game against Florida.
The action against the Gators was far from close with the Wildcats rolling to a big win. Oscar Tshiebwe provided a dominant double-double as Kentucky put up a huge second half.
After the win, head coach John Calipari was asked about TyTy Washington’s injury. The star guard went down in the second half after colliding with Florida’s Brandon McKissic. Fortunately, Calipari provided an optimistic outlook for Washington.
According to Calipari, Washington is dealing with a left lower leg injury. For now, Washington will be day-to-day, seemingly a good sign after what appeared to be an extremely painful incident for Washington.
UK coach John Calipari asked about TyTy Washington’s status. Said he went in to see him. Left lower leg injury, unsure of how bad. Might be day-to-day right now.

More from Calipari on TyTy: “There was an X-ray. So yeah. If it looked like something was there, I’d be like, oh. He still might be out a week or two. It could be a muscle, it could be something that separated.”

Washington has already dealt with a left ankle injury this season but it is unclear if this was related to the ankle or not. Kentucky’s next game is a Tuesday road trip vs. No. 19 Tennessee.
