One of the best players in the Peach State committed to the Georgia Bulldogs on Friday.
Four-star defensive end Tyler Clark of Americus, Ga., didn’t become a popular target until recently, picking up an offer from UGA after the school’s Junior Day and standing out at a talent-laden Rivals Camp Series stop in Atlanta.

At 6-foot-3 and 290 pounds, Clark is the first defensive line commitment of Georgia’s 2016 class. Several other touted players at the position are giving the Bulldogs strong consideration, including top-rated tackles Derrick Brown and Julian Rochester.
“Georgia likes his athleticism,”Americus-Sumter High School coach Erik Soliday said, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “For a kid that size, he moves pretty well. It’s nice when you’re good in that area so you can work on some technique things. It speeds up the process I think. He’s a good kid. I think he’s going to work hard for them at Georgia.”
Clark also held offers from Auburn, Louisville and Wake Forest. He represents Georgia’s 11th verbal pledge for the 2016 class. The Bulldogs currently rank fifth nationally according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
An itinerant journalist, Christopher has moved between states 11 times in seven years. Formally an injury-prone Division I 800-meter specialist, he now wanders the Rockies in search of high peaks.
