Florida’s underrated commit: Kalif Jackson

It’s safe to assume three-star Kalif Jackson out of Neptune Beach, Fla. is chomping at the bit to arrive in Gainesville next season.

The only wide receiver in a small eight-member recruiting class at this point for first-year coach Jim McElwain, the rangy 6-foot-5 target gets to play in a spread-based offense that produced All-American receiver Rashard Higgins at Colorado State this season and is predicated on getting the football in the hands of playmakers.

One of outgoing play-caller Kurt Roper’s primary recruits, Jackson told 247Sports recently that McElwain’s hire of Doug Nussmeier hasn’t effected his decision. The former Alabama and Michigan offensive coordinator has a championship pedigree, one that Jackson appreciates.

“I don’t know much about him, but I do know he produced some studs at Bama,” Jackson told 247Sports’ Luke Stampini.

Demarcus Robinson stepped up for the Gators this season as the offense’s obvious No. 1, but Florida lacks secondary options in the passing game. Jackson could be that guy depending on quickly he adjusts to the college playbook and speed of the game.
