Cam Cameron’s passing game offense at LSU isn’t directed toward its tight ends often indicative of most run-heavy schemes, but three-star commit Hanner Shipley could add a few wrinkles in that regard next season.
The massive 6-foot-5, 275-pound target prefers putting his hand in the turf and de-cleating an incoming linebacker but he has shown serious pass-catching ability at the prep level in Marble Falls, Texas as well. Shipley is the cousin of former Texas wideouts Jaxon and Jordan Shipley, so his commitment to LSU surprised many in the Lonestar State.

Many recruiting analysts are predicting that Shipley will make the transition from tight end to offensive tackle in Baton Rouge, but Shipley wants to catch the football. He patterns his game after Cowboys tight end Jason Witten and understands that LSU could use depth at the position.
Shipley will be in Orlando, Fla. on Friday for the Offense-Defense All-American Bowl at the recently-renovated Citrus Bowl. An early enrollee at LSU, he’ll get a chance to show the coaching staff his talents as a pass-catcher before an expected redshirt rookie season.
