Urban Meyer names SEC stadium as most underrated venue in college football

Urban Meyer knows what it’s like to play in tough venues throughout the SEC and the Big Ten during his time as a head coach. In fact, he believes one of the venues in the SEC does not get its full dues in terms of being a top-notch venue.
Earlier this week, Meyer and his co-hosts on The Triple Option Podcast were breaking down the preseason win total set for South Carolina. That line is at 7.5 via BetMGM, and the over 7.5 number has +110 odds. Fans can track all the odds and get into the action through the best sports betting apps.
For what it’s worth, Meyer and Mark Ingram are taking the over number, with Ingram especially pointing to a Heisman Trophy contender under center.
“I’ve got them going over 7.5 because of LaNorris Sellers,” said Ingram.
Meyer quickly followed and also said he likes head coach Shane Beamer and his work in Columbia. That’s when Meyer dropped his personal opinion on Williams-Brice Stadium.
“I do too, and I’m going to say this too: I like their coach, and I think it’s the most underrated place in college football to play,” said Meyer. “That stadium, wow. Williams-Brice.”
Ingram went along with Meyer’s assessment, recalling his personal challenges inside Williams-Brice Stadium.
“It is tough to play there, that’s why you said Alabama at South Carolina. I was No. 1 in the country, went to South Carolina and we got ambushed, so that is not an easy place to play,” Ingram conceded. “And then with LaNorris Sellers, and then Dylan Stewart on the opposite side, I like this team to win over 7.5 games.”
The schedule is a tough one to be sure, but the Gamecocks return some key production across the field. Now, we’ll see if they can also ride the homefield advantage of Williams-Brice Stadium to a potential College Football Playoff appearance.
