Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason refuses to commit to Johnny McCrary as starter

Johnny McCrory still tops the Vanderbilt depth chart at quarterback, but he didn’t get a firm commitment from Derek Mason at the coach’s weekly news conference on Tuesday.
Asked several times about his starting quarterback, Mason repeatedly answered, “We are exploring every option.”
McCrary, who has started the past 11 games over the last two seasons, is listed ahead of sophomore Wade Freebeck with true freshman Kyle Shurmur No. 3 for Saturday’s game with Missouri.
When asked if McCrary would be Saturday’s starter, Mason answered “exploring every option.” When asked if Shurmur was an option, the coach repeated “exploring every option.”
