For the first time in almost 20 years, College GameDay is heading up to Nashville, Tennessee, to host their iconic program on the campus of Vanderbilt University for the Commodores’ top-15 clash with the Missouri Tigers.
As has become tradition this season, GameDay analyst and former NFL kicker Pat McAfee will be holding a raffle that will allow one lucky student in attendance to attempt a 33-yard field goal with a lucrative cash prize on the line.
Most people who end up being chosen for the field goal attempt have zero experience kicking a football, which is why Vanderbilt kicker Brock Taylor and punter Haberer were on campus helping students practice for the event on Thursday afternoon.
According to Vanderbilt student reporter Dylan Tovitz, over 100 students crowded onto Alumni Lawn to practice their kicking form with Taylor and Haberer, just in case they end up being the lucky ticket chosen by McAfee on Saturday morning.
There probably isn’t anybody on campus better suited to help their classmates prepare for the GameDay event than Taylor, as the junior Commodores’ kicker is currently a perfect 6-6 on field goal attempts this season, and is also 35-36 on extra points as well.
If somebody from this crowd gets the opportunity to make that fateful kick on Saturday, then they’ll have a pretty good shot at winning some serious cash with these 2 Vanderbilt special teamers giving them pointers.
