In addition to giving fans an early look at the team, spring games are big recruiting weekends. Hours after the Black and Gold game, Vanderbilt landed a commitment from an Oklahoma transfer.

DT Derek Green announced on Twitter Saturday night that he’s heading to Vanderbilt. A class of 2019 recruit out of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Green signed with Oklahoma during December’s Early Signing Period and enrolled at OU in January. In February, however, he announced that he would be leaving the Sooners program. At that time, he told 247Sports that he was leaving to serve his country and join the Navy.

As a 2019 recruit, the 6-5, 290-pounder was rated the No. 32 North Carolina product, No. 58 defensive tackle and No. 722 prospect overall on the 247Sports Composite. In addition to being recruited by Oklahoma and Vanderbilt, he also had offers from Georgia, Tennessee and Virginia.
