After the reveal of the latest AP poll, they’re partying in Nashville like it’s 1947.
Vanderbilt is now slotted at No. 10, which is its highest ranking in 78 years. Vanderbilt jumped 7 spots after defeating visiting LSU 31-24 on Saturday, to improve to 6-1 for the first time since 1950.
It was also Vanderbilt’s first win against LSU since 1990 and ended a 10-game losing streak vs. the Tigers.
Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia completed 14 of his 22 passes for 160 yards, a touchdown, and no interceptions while also rushing for 86 yards and 2 scores. Pavia is having an exceptional season, with 1,569 yards, 15 touchdowns, 4 interceptions and an 85.2 QBR (6th nationally).
Vanderbilt is firmly in the picture not just for its first-ever SEC title but the College Football Playoff.
Next up for Vanderbilt is a key home matchup vs. No. 15 Missouri on Oct. 25 (3:30 p.m. ET/ESPN). Mizzou is 11-4-1 all-time against the Commodores and has won the last 5 games in this series.
