Vicari Swian has provided many big plays during his time at South Carolina, and he delivered another one in the first quarter of the Gamecocks game against Towson on Saturday night.
After the Gamecocks forced a punt, Swain took it 50 yards for a touchdown to give his team a 7-0 lead. With that punt return, he tied a school record for career punt returns returned for touchdowns.
He became the punt returner last season for the Gamecocks, and he quickly showed that he is as good a returner as there is in the country. He returned 20 punts last year for 312 yards and three touchdowns. He also finished last season with 28 tackles, 2 FF and 2 interceptions.

The old saying is that guys play cornerback because they can’t catch the ball like a receiver, but that isn’t the case for Swain. When he gets the ball in his hands, it usually ends up in a positive play for the Gamecocks.
After Saturday, the Gamecocks will be in action in Week 3 against an up-start Mississippi State team that looks like it is headed into the right direction after a win over Minnesota in Week 2.
