Video: Cam Newton helps 10-year-old with terminal cancer celebrate Halloween early
Doctors aren’t sure if 10-year-old Elijah Hughes will live long enough to see Oct. 31 this year.
With that in mind, the cancer-stricken child celebrated Halloween early on Friday night in Concord, North Carolina and went trick-or-treating with a special friend — Cam Newton.
According to WCNC, Hughes is an Auburn fan who idolizes Newton. The Carolina Panthers quarterback, who heard about the young fan’s situation, made a special trip to Hughes’ ‘Halloween Block Party’ in his neighborhood with an ice cream truck in tow.
No media was allowed, but the story made its way to social media.
“As a mom it absolutely melts your heart,” said Becky Hughes, Elijah’s mother, according to WCNC. “It brings tears to my eyes.”
