Missouri is desperate for production out of the backfield with Russell Hansbrough (ankle) out against UConn.

The Tigers managed just two first-half points — on a safety created by a blocked punt.

Mizzou has moved the ball a little better in the second half, finally seizing a lead.

Former walk-on running back Tyler Hunt, listed at a generous 5-foot-11, 210 pounds, snatched a tipped Maty Mauk screen pass, trucked Connecticut linebacker Graham Stewart and weaved his way 51 yards to set up a scoring opportunity.

Hunt now has two catches for 129 yards and a touchdown in 2015. Perhaps he’s developing into Mizzou’s secret weapon. Without Hansbrough, Missouri entered the fourth quarter with just 68 rushing yards from the running backs, so Hunt’s big play was a rare exception.

Unfortunately for Mizzou, UConn stuffed Ish Witter on fourth-and-goal from the 1-yard line.

Still, Hunt’s catch-and-run is fun to watch.
