Virginia Tech TE Kalvin Cline announced he will be transferring to Texas A&M in an Instagram post on Sunday afternoon.
The post, which appears to be public while the account itself is private, features a Texas A&M logo and a lengthy caption:
Couldn’t be more thankful for my time at Virginia Tech. It’s been an amazing 3 years and Hokie Nation has a special place in my heart. It was truly an honor to play for a legend like Frank Beamer and I wish nothing but the best for my teammates this up coming season. But after I graduate in May I will be finishing my last 2 years of eligibility at Texas A&M. Can’t wait to do big things at College station and see the 12th man light up the stadium! Gig’em Aggies‼️
As a graduate transfer, Cline will be eligible to play for the Aggies in the fall. He has a total of two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Cline had a very productive freshman season in 2013 (26 catches, 321 yards, 2 TD), but missed most of 2014 due to a knee injury for which he was granted a medical hardship waiver. He played in nine games in 2015, but did not start.
The transfer announcement does not reference Texas A&M’s Corps of Cadets, however, Cline’s online bio at Virginia Tech notes that he “balanced his football duties with his Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets duties.”
The former Hokie will be one of many high-profile new faces hoping to give the Aggies offense a boost in 2016. Former Oklahoma QB Trevor Knight and former UCLA offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone joined Texas A&M in January.
