The first SEC West vs. SEC West game kicked off at about 9:20 p.m. ET on Saturday in Starkville, Miss.
After an offseason of talk about how competitive the division would be in 2015, the first contest ended in a long potential game-winning field goal that pushed wide right off the foot of Mississippi State’s kicker, affording LSU with an early-season victory.

There are four more conference games slated for Week 3, and three of them feature opening lines of less than a touchdown. Alabama (minus-6.5) is a moderate favorite in a revenge opportunity against Ole Miss and LSU (minus-6.5) is a better Tigers team than Auburn at this point, according to Vegas.
SEC teams are favored in every non-conference game, including the one contest against a power-conference foe — Texas Tech at Arkansas.
There are three games against FCS schools. Those lines usually aren’t posted in Vegas sports books until Friday. But they’re worth monitoring, as Auburn taught us this weekend against Jacksonville State.

After an 8-4-1 week to start the season, SEC teams finished just 2-6 ATS in non-conference games during Week 2 play.
The relative perception of SEC teams in the eyes of public betters — with a record 10 teams ranked in the Associated Press poll — may finally have reached a tipping point.
The two teams that did manage to beat the spread against non-conference foes? Ole Miss and Texas A&M. The Rebels (74.5 points per game) and Aggies (47.0 ppg) are all offense through two weeks.
Meanwhile, another pair of ranked teams in Missouri and Auburn have lost both games against the spread this year. Courtesy of an embarrassing 27-20 overtime win against FCS program Jacksonville State, Auburn did not come within 40 points of the closing number at most Vegas sports books.
Arkansas, which had improved to 11-3 against the number dating to the beginning of 2014, missed the number by 26.5 on Saturday.
