Sam Pittman and Arkansas finally got the monkey off their backs.
The Razorbacks won a game against a Power 5 opponent for the first time all season Saturday, downing Florida 39-36 in overtime. The win is also Arkansas’ first ever victory against the Gators in Gainesville.

Pittman was as happy as he’s been all season during his postgame press conference. But before he got to the podium, he sat down with local radio to recap the game.
He responded with “It was just damn awesome” when asked to summarize the last 60 minutes of football from his team:
“It was just damn awesome, to be honest with you.”

The Razorbacks offense looked completely different Saturday against the Gators. Arkansas moved on from former OC Dan Enos a week ago, promoting Kenny Guiton to the interim position. And immediately, the Razorbacks scored the most points they have all season against Power 5 competition.
Here’s Pittman’s assessment of Guiton’s play calling Saturday:
Pittman on what Kenny Guiton brings- A good coach gets their players to play better than what they are. Kenny is one of those guys who have that ability. Kids respect him so they wanted to do well.

The Razorbacks were also able to get Rocket Sanders back on the field. He finished Saturday’s game with 18 carries for 103 yards.
Here’s what Pittman had to say regarding his star RB:
“I thought he ran extremely hard and ran over some guys. He’s a captain and he brings more leadership to the team. It was good to have him back.”

“In two weeks time a lot of stuff went on in the program and the kids just stayed with us and stayed believing.”

“Somebody took care of us because the field goal, in my opinion, should’ve never been kicked.”
– Sam Pittman when asked about the controversial no 10-second runoff call late in the win at Florida

“It’s a big deal to come to Florida and win. They earned that. We have never had a bad football team. We’ve had some bad luck and bad coaching mistakes but never a bad team.”
