Much like the rest of America, the Gamecocks are ready to get back to their usual schedule.

That’s the way Will Muschamp tells it as he recently joined ESPN morning show “Get Up” to discuss the latest with his Gamecock football program a day after South Carolina announced plans to re-open the campus in Columbia to students in August.

While that’s the good news, Muschamp said only 30 percent of his players have access to weights while they are away from campus and the coach believes his team will need eight weeks to get ready to play the upcoming college football season.

“The whole first month needs to be dedicated to strength and conditioning and us being able to meet with our guys and then you can ease into training camp,” Muschamp shared on the show.

When it comes to the many questions his players have for him since all this began back in March, the South Carolina coach has just about the same amount of answers at this time.

“The big thing right now is just the uncertainty. Our guys just keep asking when, ‘When can we come back to campus?’ They are eager to get back on campus,” Muschamp said. “I’m really proud of how they’ve handled this entire situation, the online classes, all the different things we’ve had to do. We just finished exams yesterday, so we are going to start back some position meetings today.”

The Gamecocks have taken care of business while away from Columbia and Muschamp is just disappointed he can’t offer them any concrete information at this time.

“There are a lot more questions than answers for our guys right now,” the coach added.
