South Carolina coach Will Muschamp hosted around a dozen 2017 recruits on Saturday and took them to the men’s basketball game against Ole Miss, which resulted in a 67-56 win for the Gamecocks (14-3).

That’s when he told The State there were two players in particular he would have significant interest in having on the football field come next fall.

โ€œI hate to tell Frank [Martin], but he should be a corner,โ€ Muschamp said about freshman point guard Rakym Felder. โ€œThis guy is a prototypical cornerback. Heโ€™s got great feet, change of direction. Heโ€™s a gutsy player. I really enjoy watching him play.โ€

Felder, who stands at 5-foot-10, 210 pounds, averages 6.1 points in 14.3 minutes per game off the bench.

โ€œHe should be playing corner,โ€ Muschamp said. โ€œIโ€™m going to tell Frank that after the game.โ€

Muschamp also raved about sophomore guard P.J. Dozier (6-foot-6, 205), who leads the team in scoring (14.9 ppg) and assists (3.1).

โ€œHe could be the slot receiver. Thereโ€™s no question about that.โ€

South Carolina finished 6-7 (3-5) in Muschamp’s debut season and currently owns the nation’s No. 15 recruiting class for ’17, according to 247Sports.
