The Kentucky Wildcats are 5-1 after knocking off LSU Saturday night in Lexington.

The Wildcats got it done in walk-off fashion, too. Kentucky quarterback Kenny Minchey rushed into the end zone to complete a 2-point play in the first overtime, securing the 35-34 win over Lane Kiffin and Co. It’s the second straight week that Kentucky has won a game via walk-off 2-point conversion.

And according to Wildcats head coach Will Stein, Minchey called his own number on the fateful scoring play.

“We didn’t call a QB draw,” Stein said. “Kenny called his own number, and thank God he did.”

Minchey has been exceptional since his rough outing against Alabama in Week 2. The Notre Dame transfer has improved little by little each week and now has the Wildcats chasing CFP dreams as we near the halfway point of the 2026 regular season.

Those dreams are very real, too. Kentucky is currently ranked No. 15 in the country with tough matchups at Oklahoma, at Tennessee and at Mizzou still to come. The Wildcats will need to win at least 2 of these games to have a real shot at reaching the postseason.

Baby steps, Kentucky. Next up, the Wildcats are set to face off against an Oklahoma squad fresh off a rivalry victory over Texas.
