Will Wade and the LSU Tigers went to Vanderbilt on Saturday evening and left town with a 75-66 loss.
It was the Tigers’ 6th loss in their last 7 games. Yes, they were without guard Xavier Pinson, but that’s still not a game the Tigers should lose.
After the loss, Wade said his team is lacking confidence at the moment (via On3 Sports):
โItโs hard to be confident when youโve lost six out of seven,โ Wadeย saidย of LSUโs confidence. โI mean look, weโve got to inject a little confidence in our guys and weโve got to get back to certainly playing better than we are now.โ
But, he added, lack of confidence and injury concerns can’t be blamed for all that is going wrong with LSU these days:
โHealth related, attention to detail, thereโs different issues on different things,โ Wade said when asked what LSUโs biggest issues are right now. โSome of itโs health, but we canโt blame it all on that. Everybodyโs got some issues. We didnโt get an offensive rebound in the first half, thatโs an effort issue. We donโt follow the details on the scouting report. Give up 11 threes to two of their best shooters, thatโs a detail issue. So itโs a little bit of both.โ
LSU faces a very important week. The Tigers head to College Station on Tuesday night to take on a struggling Texas A&M squad. Then, LSU returns home on Saturday to host Mississippi State.
