LSU softball is moving on to the regional final and is now just one win away from advancing to the Super Regional stage of the NCAA Softball tournament following an 8-0, 6-inning win over Virginia Tech on Saturday.
The win is LSU‘s second straight run-rule victory in the NCAA Tournament following the Tigers’ 8-0 victory Akron on Friday. The No. 16 national seed, of course, has yet to allow a run thus far in the Baton Rouge regional.
This one was pure domination from the jump. The Tigers scored 3 runs in the 2nd inning thanks to a sacrifice fly from Jalia Lassiter and a 2-run home run from Maci Bergeron. Kylee Edwards brought home another run in the 4th inning before a 4-run 6th inning sent the Hokies packing.
Speaking of Bergeron, the senior catcher was absolutely on fire Saturday afternoon against Virginia Tech. She totaled 2 RBIs and 3 hits across 3 at-bats, including her 150th hit for her career.
LSU has not yet learned its opponent for the Baton Rouge Regional Final, which will take place at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday. The Tigers will face one of Akron or South Alabama, which just started their matchup on ESPN+.
