Juliana “Goose” Hutchens, the No. 1 softball prospect in the Class of 2027, has reclassified to the Class of 2026 and will join the Oklahoma Sooners starting this fall, the Sooners announced on Thursday.
Hutchens will contribute for the Sooners from Day 1. The Wagoner high school power hitting catcher just tied the Oklahoma state record for home runs as a sophomore and competed as a member of Team USA’s U-18 softball team at the World Cup. Hutchens was named the MVP of the tournament after batting .800 and helping USA win the gold medal.
In addition, Hutchens was a member of the 2021 Oklahoma team that won the Little League Softball World Series — the first time a team from Oklahoma has ever won the event.
Hutchens originally committed to Oklahoma in September of 2025. Oklahoma’s 2026 class now sits at 7 members and, especially now, is considered the best in the nation per On3.
Oklahoma softball is perhaps the best softball program of all time. The Sooners boast 8 national titles, including 4 straight from 2021-2024. In addition, the Sooners have reached the Women’s College World Series every season dating back to 2015, not counting the canceled 2020 WCWS.
