Texas softball avoids upset, punches ticket to Women’s College World Series
Texas has officially earned a spot in the Women’s College World Series.
The defending-champion Longhorns lost to Arizona State in the opening game of the Austin Super Regional, but rallied back for 2 straight wins to clinch a berth in Oklahoma City next weekend.
Texas finished the Sun Devils off with a 5-0 win on Sunday evening.
Teagan Kavan was excellent for Texas in the circle. She tossed 7 scoreless innings, striking out 5 batters while scattering 5 hits and 2 walks.

Offensively, Texas was led by Katie Stewart. She went 2-for-4 with 4 RBI on the day.
This is Texas’s 9th trip to the Women’s College World Series in program history. The Longhorns have become one of the top powers in this sport, reaching the championship series in each of the past 2 seasons. Texas won the National Championship in 2025.
The Longhorns will be among the favorites at this year’s event especially as super regional hosts Oklahoma and Florida were upset on Sunday.
