WCWS Finals set: Texas Tech beats Alabama twice to face Texas

The Women’s College World Series is down to two. Texas Tech defeated Alabama twice to advance to the WCWS Finals. The No. 11 seed Red Raiders will face No. 2 seed Texas.
With 1 loss already in Oklahoma City, Texas Tech was facing elimination in the first semifinal game against Alabama. It was a 4-4 ballgame in the bottom of the 7th when Texas Tech star Mia Williams hit a walk-off home run to force another game.

The second meeting between Alabama and Texas Tech was winner-take-all to play Texas in the championship series. The Red Raiders managed 10 hits, but only scored 2 runs on Crimson Tide pitchers. Jocely Briski went 5 innings, allowing 1 earned run on 8 hits.
The Red Raiders took a 1-0 lead in the top of the 4th inning. Vic Moten replaced Briski in the 6th. She allowed 2 hits over 2 innings, but that included an insurance run for Texas Tech.
Texas Tech star pitcher Nijaree Canady held Alabama to just 2 hits in the game. The Crimson Tide were shut out, falling 2-0. UA did get a baserunner on and Ambrey Taylor, representing the tying run, got a deep fly, but was retired as the final out.

Alabama softball finishes the 2026 season 56-9 overall.
The WCWS Finals begin Wednesday. Game 2 will be played on Thursday. If necessary, Game 3 will be played on Friday. Texas and Texas Tech will play a best-of-3 series for the national championship.
