Former Alabama All-American LB CJ Mosley is hanging up his cleats.

Mosley announced Thursday that he is retiring from the NFL after a decorated career.

Out of Theodore (Alabama) High School, Mosley signed with UA to play for Nick Saban, joining the Crimson Tide in 2010. He was named a Freshman All-American by many publications.

Mosley was a key contributor in UA’s 2011 and ’12 BCS national championship teams. He was named first-team All-SEC in 2012 and ’13, also earning Consensus All-American (2012) and Unanimous All-American (2013) recognition. In his final season, 2013, he won the Butkus Award and was named SEC Defensive Player of the Year.

The Baltimore Ravens selected Mosley with the No. 17 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. Mosley would spend his first 5 seasons with the Ravens, making 4 Pro Bowls and earning 4 second-team All-Pro selections (2014, 2016-18).

Mosley spent the second half of his pro career with the New York Jets from 2019-24. In 2022, he was again selected to the Pro Bowl and named second-team All-Pro. The Jets released Mosley in March after being limited to just 4 games in 2024 due to injuries.

The final stats on Mosley’s career are 133 regular-season games played (132 starts), 1,083 combined tackles, 687 solo stops, 12 sacks, 53 passes defended, 12 interceptions (2 touchdowns), 10 forced fumbles and 9 fumble recoveries.
