Former Alabama defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick has been traded to the New York Jets in exchange for a 2026 seventh-round pick, according to Adam Schefter.

Fitzpatrick spent the past season playing for the team that originally drafted him, the Miami Dolphins. After spending just one season back in Miami, the former All-Pro is on the move again, this time taking his talents up north to the Jets. Last season, Fitzpatrick totaled 1 sack, 1 forced fumble, and 1 interception.

He’ll be a huge addition to head coach Aaron Glenn’s defense as he tries to rebuild the Jets.

The Miami Dolphins originally drafted Fitzpatrick with the No. 11 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. He spent just a little over one season in Miami before demanding a trade due to frustrations with his role. He was traded in 2019 to the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he would become a 3-time first-team All-Pro and 5-time Pro Bowler.

He was then traded back to Miami in a blockbuster deal back in 2025 that saw cornerback Jalen Ramsey join the Steelers.

Fitzpatrick is a two-time CFP national champion with the Crimson Tide. The defensive back earned the Chuck Bednarik Award, which recognizes the defensive player of the year in college football, and the Jim Thorpe Award, which is awarded to the top defensive back in college football, in 2017.
