Former Alabama RB Brian Robinson Jr. has been a Washington Commander for the entirety of his brief NFL career. However, he may find himself in another organization sooner than later.

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Commanders “have been shopping” Robinson around the NFL. The 26-year-old running back is entering the final year of his rookie contract and is slated to earn $3.4 million this season.

Robinson has tallied 2,329 rushing yards in 41 games for the Commanders. The third-round pick (No. 98 overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft overcame two gunshot wounds suffered in an attempted robbery to make his professional debut in Week 5 of the 2022 campaign. His career-best rushing performance — 17 carries, 133 yards — came last season versus the New York Giants.

Washington boasts a deep running back room. Robinson currently tops their depth chart, but he averaged the fewest yards per carry (4.1) of any Commanders’ rusher in 2024. Austin Ekeler (4.8), Jeremy McNichols (4.7) and Chris Rodriguez Jr. (4.9) all outpaced him and are all back on the team, as is intriguing seventh-round rookie Jacory Croskey-Merritt. Together, they make Robinson an expendable asset who could see more playing time with — and potentially get a new contract from — a new franchise.
