Former Alabama RB Najee Harris to miss remainder of 2025 season, Chargers announce

Los Angeles Chargers running back Najee Harris will miss the remainder of the 2025 season with a torn Achilles, as confirmed by head coach Jim Harbaugh.
The Alabama product sustained the non-contact injury during the Chargers’ 23-20 victory vs. the Denver Broncos on Sunday. It was on a play in the second quarter in the backfield and his left ankle gave out with him untouched.
The 6-foot-1 Harris finished with 28 yards on 6 carries prior to exiting the game. Harris finishes his first season with the Chargers with 61 yards on 15 carries. The Chargers signed Harris to a 1-year, $9.5 million contract in the offseason.
Harris was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the No. 24 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Harris had a sensational rookie season in which he rushed for 1,200 yards and 7 touchdowns as well as catching 3 scores en route to making the Pro Bowl. Harris rushed for 1,000+ yards in each of his 4 seasons in the NFL.
Harris was a member of Alabama’s national title teams in 2017 and 2020. In 2020, Harris won the Doak Walker Award and was a unanimous All-American. For his college career, Harris racked up 3,843 yards and 46 touchdowns on the ground while also catching 11 touchdown receptions.
