Former Mizzou K Harrison Mevis, the Thiccer Kicker, signs with NFL team

The Thiccer Kicker is heading back to the NFL.
Former Mizzou standout Harrison Mevis has reportedly landed an opportunity with the New York Jets. Mevis is coming off a strong showing in the UFL, the name of the spring professional league made up of XFL and USFL clubs.

It’s the second NFL opportunity for Mevis. He previously signed with the Carolina Panthers during the 2024 offseason, but was let go during August roster cuts.

Mevis had a memorable career at Mizzou from 2020-23. He was recognized as a Freshman All-American in 2020 after making 17-of-20 field goals and all 28 extra-point attempts. Mevis was a first-team All-American and All-SEC selection in 2021, when he made a career-best 26-of-28 field goals.
In 2023, Mevis was second-team All-SEC when he went 24-of-30 on field goals, including his career-long of 61 yards, breaking a Mizzou school record.
