George Pickens contract set for 2026 as negotiation deadline expires

It will be a franchise-tag year for George Pickens in Dallas.
Pickens signed a franchise-tag tender in April. The former Georgia wide receiver and the Cowboys had until 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday to negotiate a long-term deal. The deadline passed with no change to Pickens’ contract.

A second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Pickens is entering his 5th season in the league. The 2025 campaign was his first in Dallas.
Pickens had a career year with the Cowboys. Playing in 17 games with 15 starts, Pickens logged career-highs of 93 catches for 1,429 yards and 9 touchdowns. His previous bests came in 2023 when he logged 63 reception for 1,140 yards and 5 scores.
The Pittsburgh Steelers drafted Pickens in 2022. He spent his first 3 seasons with the club before a May 2025 trade for a package of 3 future draft picks.
