Jayden Daniels missed Washington’s last game, but he could be nearing a return.

The Commanders (2-1) were without their star quarterback for their Week 3 game against the Las Vegas Raiders, but veteran Marcus Mariota filled in nicely and Washington won 41-24 anyway. When he met with reporters on Wednesday, Daniels, who is dealing with a knee issue, said he feels more like himself, but the decision to play will ultimately be made by Washington’s medical staff.

“It’s up to the doctors. It’s not my decision,” Daniels said. He was a bit cagey when discussing the injury and his conversation with the team about missing the game against the Raiders, but, when pressed, he added that he “feel(s) good” now.

According to a report from ESPN’s John Keim, the former LSU standout returned to practice in a limited capacity on Wednesday. He took part in individual throwing drills, though he wore a brace over his sprained left knee during practice. Daniels said Washington’s medical team will make the call on whether or not he wears the knee brace in a game.

“I feel good, so I don’t think [the knee] affects me,” he said.

Through his first 2 appearances this season, the reigning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year has completed 59.7% of his throws for 433 yards and 3 touchdowns without an interception. He also has 85 rushing yards. Daniels struggled in the Week 2 loss to the Green Bay Packers, but he told reporters on Wednesday that he wasn’t thinking about his knee during the game.

Washington plays Atlanta on the road on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on CBS.
