Former Alabama wide receiver and current Denver Bronco Jaylen Waddle has struggled during his first season with the organization since arriving from Miami, as he’s battled a myriad of injuries and overall inconsistencies this year.
And during Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers, Waddle may have suffered another concussion after taking a hard hit to the facemask while attempting to reel in a pass downfield.
The Broncos later ruled Waddle out for the remainder of the game, with the team trailing 14-13 in the fourth quarter.
Denver’s acquisition of Waddle over the offseason at first appeared to be a great move for an organization in search of a standout target to pair with its budding star at QB and a receiver who likely wanted to play for a contender following years of struggles in Miami.
However, Waddle has been dealing with ailments throughout the season and has only posted one game (Week 2) where he eclipsed the 100-yard mark. Having recorded 315 receiving yards and just 2 touchdowns, Waddle is on pace for the lowest output of his career.
Of course, the Broncos’ offense has experienced its fair share of ups and downs this season as a whole, so the blame can’t solely be pinned on Waddle for his play.
