Kirk Herbstreit has long been a supporter of the teams from his home state of Ohio, and when the Cincinnati Bengals clinched a trip to the Super Bowl on Sunday, the ESPN commentator was right there to celebrate.

It’s the Bengals first trip to the Super Bowl in 33 years, and it was fueled by a 31-yard game-winning kick by former Florida kicker Evan McPherson to lift the Bengals to a 27-24 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC championship game Sunday.

The Bengals erased an 18-point deficit, which tied an AFC title game record, before Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker hit a 44-yard field goal as time expired in regulation sent it to overtime a week after his 49-yarder on the final play of regulation did the same last week against Buffalo.

For the second week in a row, the Chiefs won the coin toss to begin overtime, but this time, Patrick Mahomes was intercepted by Vonn Bell on the third play, and Joe Burrow and the Bengals took over.

The Bengals are going to the Super Bowl for the first time since 1989. They will play the winner of the NFC championship between San Francisco and the Los Angeles Rams in the Super Bowl in Los Angeles on Feb. 13.
