Laremy Tunsil reportedly suffers significant injury, will miss regular season games

Washington Commanders offensive lineman Laremy Tunsil is dealing with a significant injury, according to a report.
Per the NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Tunsil suffered a torn triceps muscle during training camp on Saturday and is expected to undergo surgery. That injury, which Garafolo says occurred during 1-on-1 pass rush drills, will rule Tunsil out for a “significant portion” of the regular season.

That’s devastating news for Tunsil and the Commanders. The former Ole Miss offensive tackle has established himself as one of the top players in the NFL at his position and was set to enter his 11th NFL campaign in 2026.
Tunsil was a huge acquisition for the Commanders after the 2024 season and played a big role in protecting former LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels last season as Washington’s left tackle.
Tunsil, 32, has played at least 14 games in all but 1 of his prior NFL seasons. Durability has been a strength for Tunsil, but he’ll now face one of the most significant injuries of his NFL career. Tunsil was limited to just 5 games in 2021 as he dealt with a torn UCL in his left thumb.
As for the Commanders, they will have to look for left tackle contributions elsewhere until Tunsil is healthy. Other tackle options on the roster include Trent Scott, Foster Sarell and Andrew Wylie, among others. Josh Conerly was set to start at right tackle.
