While most NFL roster cuts revolve around players who are fairly new to the league, somewhat of a veteran has also been released Sunday.
Former Missouri tight end Albert Okwuegbunam has been released by the Las Vegas Raiders according to reports from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Commonly referred to as Albert “O” in Columbia, Okwuegbunam spent time with the Denver Broncos and Philadelphia Eagles prior to landing with the Raiders in 2025.
The 6-foot-5 tight end enjoyed the most productive season of his pro career in 2021, as he hauled in 33 passes for 330 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Broncos that year.
But after appearing in 14 games that season, Okwuegbunam has appeared in just 13 total since. He posted 5 catches for 36 yards with Las Vegas in 2025.
At this point in his NFL career, Okwuegbunam has accounted for 59 catches, 582 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns.
Teaming up with Drew Lock while in college, Okwuegbunam was selected in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft thanks to his highly productive tenure with the Tigers. He racked up 98 catches for 1,187 yards and 23 touchdowns from 2017-2019, and the tight end led the SEC in receiving touchdowns with 11 during his first year on campus.
