When Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey is lining up for a field goal, you assume the ball is going through the uprights. After all, he has made 6 60-yard kicks, an NFL record. During the Cowboys’ Christmas Day contest versus the Washington Commanders, an unlucky cameraman learned first-hand that no kicker is perfect.
Early in the fourth quarter on Thursday, Dallas brought Aubrey onto the field for a 58-yard field goal attempt. With a make, the Cowboys would have extended their 27-20 lead to 10 points over the shockingly pesky Commanders. Unfortunately, Aubrey missed. Badly. The ball ended up so far wide right that it smacked a cameraman in the face.
Aubrey rebounded from 51 yards out later in the quarter to help Dallas earn a 30-23 victory. Most comments on the video focused on Aubrey’s seemingly rare miss, but 1 user did notice where the ball ended up.
Aubrey is now 35-for-40 on his field goal attempts this year. All 5 of his misses have come from 50-plus yards. Despite his miss against Washington, he put up 16 fantasy football points. He may have ruined the cameraman’s Christmas, but his production is going to make someone somewhere have a very happy holiday season.
