In the second major trade of the day in the NFL, the Philadelphia Eagles have sent wide receiver AJ Brown to the New England Patriots in exchange for a 2028 1st-round pick and 2027 5th-round pick, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

In landing with the Patriots, the former Ole Miss wide receiver reunites with former head coach Mike Vrabel. Brown played for Vrabel during his 3 seasons with the Tennessee Titans from 2019-2021 before being traded to Philadelphia.

Schefter reported Monday that New England was one of Brown’s preferred destinations.

Brown put up monster numbers for the Eagles during his 4 seasons in the City of Brotherly Love. He owns the 2 highest single-season receiving totals in franchise history, posting 1,496 yards in 2022 and 1,456 yards in 2023. For his career, Brown has thus far totaled 524 receptions for 8,029 yards, 56 touchdowns and 383 first downs with 3 pro bowl appearances and one Super Bowl ring.

Via Schefter, only 2 receivers in the NFL recorded at least 1,000 receiving yards and 7 receiving touchdowns across the past 2 seasons: Brown and Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase.

In other words, Patriots quarterback Drake Maye is going to love New England’s newest addition.
