Tim Tebow to be honored as Broncos alumni flag planter for home opener vs. Jaguars

Tim Tebow has fond memories of Empower Field at Mile High during his time with the Denver Broncos. His most famous one came in January 2012, when he connected with the late Demaryius Thomas for a game-winning 80-yard touchdown in overtime against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Wild Card Round.
On Sunday, during the Broncos’ home opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Tebow will be welcomed back to Denver. He’ll be honored as the team’s pregame alumni flag planter.
Tebow was taken in the first round by the Broncos in 2010 after a legendary career at Florida. He started on the bench but eventually emerged as the starter ahead of Kyle Orton after Denver started the season with a 1-3 record. After splitting his first two games, Tebow led the Broncos on a six-game winning streak, eventually helping the team clinch a playoff berth.
That set up the Wild Card Game against the Steelers, a game that will go down as Tebow’s most memorable one wearing the Broncos jersey. While his time with the team ended with an offseason trade to the New York Jets after the Broncos signed Peyton Manning out of free agency, he’ll go down as a key figure in franchise history.
