Todd Monken was not present for the NFL’s annual head coach photo, which was taken following a league meeting on Monday in Phoenix, Arizona.
Monken (who coaches the Browns) and Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay were the only NFL head coaches to miss the group photo. Here’s a look:
According to the former Georgia offensive coordinator, the reason he missed the photo is pretty ironic. As he told reporters on Tuesday, Monken missed the photo because he was getting his hair cut… for the photo. The 30 head coaches present held their meeting, which let out early, then took the photo immediately afterwards, which was 20 minutes earlier than the posted time of Noon on the agenda, per Monken.
Brutal.
Monken is entering his first year as head coach of the Cleveland Browns after serving as Baltimore’s offensive coordinator from 2023-2025. Before that, as Georgia fans know, Monken served as OC under Kirby Smart, overseeing Stetson Bennett IV and Georgia’s 2x national titles.
Monken’s coaching experience goes well beyond that. He has over 35 years of coaching experience in total, having made stops at Southern Miss (HC), Oklahoma State (pass game coordinator), LSU (pass game coordinator) and in the NFL with the Buccaneers, Jaguars and Browns, where he was the OC in 2019.
