Travis Hunter’s 2025 season has come to an end. The Jacksonville Jaguars announced that the rookie had undergone surgery on his right knee after suffering an injury in Week 10 against the Houston Texans.
Despite Hunter’s surgery, the Jaguars announced that Hunter’s knee hasn’t been damaged further beyond what happened on Sunday.
Hunter, the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner, was the No. 2 overall pick out of Colorado. The Jaguars hoped that his unique two-way capability would help improve the fortunes of the franchise.
As a receiver, Hunter made 28 catches for 298 yards and a touchdown. That TD came on Oct. 19 against the Los Angeles Rams in London. As a defender, he was credited with 15 tackles and 3 passes defensed. With Hunter’s season shut down, he’ll now be able to focus on making a full recovery, with the goal of taking a larger role on the field with the Jaguars in 2026 and beyond.
The Jaguars, meanwhile, are well in the playoff chase with a 5-4 record. Despite an emotional 36-29 loss to the Texans, they project as the 7th seed in the AFC.
Jacksonville’s last playoff appearance was in the 2022 season, when they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round.
