With the NFL’s new league year on the horizon, the Kansas City Chiefs were staring at a blank space in their offense. Fortunately for Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid, their future Hall of Fame’s tight end’s love for football is still burning red.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Travis Kelce will return to Kansas City for his 14th professional season. The decision follows the Chiefs’ worst year of Kelce’s career, where they went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2014.

Retirement rumors have swirled around Kelce for a while, pretty much since he began dating Taylor Swift. But for now, he’ll still be her “guy on the Chiefs.” He’ll also still be a factor in Kansas City’s offense. Kelce led the Chiefs in receptions (76) and receiving yards (851) last season, and the lack of certainty in the team’s receiving room should have him well-positioned for a healthy amount of targets.

Kansas City has two first-round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft (No. 9, No. 29). In a Mar. 5 mock draft, ESPN’s Jordan Reid projected the Chiefs would take Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate at No. 9 overall. If that comes to fruition, Kansas City could give Kelce the Super Bowl sendoff he’s aspiring for next February. The NFL Draft begins Apr. 23.
