A pair of SEC golfers had a week to remember at the US Open.
Auburn’s Jackson Koivun and Oklahoma’s Ryder Cowan tied for 23rd at the US Open, shooting 5-over par at the difficult Shinnecock Hills course in New York.
With that score, Koivun and Cowan were the best-performing amateurs at the event this weekend. Their join accomplishment was celebrated by SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey after the tournament concluded:
Koivun has won the SEC’s individual championship in 2024, 2025 and 2026. Koivun is also a 2-time winner of the Jack Nicklaus Award, which is given annually to the best college golfer in the nation.
