Jon Sumrall, Todd Golden share embrace prior to Florida’s opener

Jon Sumrall is the new coach at Florida, and he is hoping to get the Gators back to contending for championships like they were in the past.
As Florida was preparing for the game on Saturday night, Sumrall ran into another Florida coach who turned his program into a national championship contender in basketball coach Todd Golden.
During their quick exchange, Sumrall couldn’t help but be excited to see Golden:
Golden understands what it is like to come to Florida and get things turned around, as he led the Gators basketball team to a national championship just two seasons ago. The Gators were upset last season in the Round of 32, but they have the type of talent coming back that should once again have them contending for a title.
Sumrall’s job may be a little tougher, but he has shown he can take a program to another level. Last season, he led Tulane to a spot in the College Football Playoff.
Florida fans know that both teams can win a title at the same time, as we are close to the 20th anniversary of when Florida won a national title in football and basketball in the same season.
While that may be tough for a little while for Sumrall to have them competing, there is no doubt he is ready for the challenge.
