In October, Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley announced he was stepping away from football to focus on his mental health. The Falcons did not make this year’s NFL playoffs, which means they are looking toward the 2022 regular season, raising questions about Ridley’s status with the club going forward.

On Saturday, NFL Network reporter Mike Garafolo appeared on “Good Morning Football” to share the latest on Ridley. Garafalo agreed with a colleague’s take that both parties could look for a fresh start with the former Alabama standout being traded.

“It’s not a situation where he has any ill will toward the organization,” Garafalo said. “There’s just some personal things, it sounds like, going on that, maybe a new location for him would be a good thing.”

Garafalo said his “educated prediction” is that Ridley plays elsewhere for the 2022 regular season, but stressed his take is a prediction, not a report.

Plenty of teams would love to add Ridley if he’s on the trading block. In 49 games, Ridley has 248 catches for 3,342 yards and 28 touchdowns. He had a career year in 2020, catching 90 passes for 1,374 yards.
