Randy Moss recently took a step back from his broadcasting role with ESPN. While it was previously known that he was battling a health issue, the details of that issue were private for some time.
Now, Moss is going public with his battle with cancer, confirming that diagnosis in an Instagram live segment on Friday. Fortunately, Moss described himself as “a cancer survivor” in his comments, lending a positive vibe to his recovery outlook.
“Y’all know I’ve told y’all over the last couple of weeks about me battling something internally, and your boy is a cancer survivor,” announced Moss. “I’ll get into that a little bit more in a few minutes, but I just want to give a shoutout to a lot of people who helped me pull through this.”
Moss went on to reveal he recently spent 6 days in a Charlotte hospital and was only discharged on Friday. While in the hospital, Moss said he underwent surgery for his cancer.
Moss later sent out a link to a site on X (formerly Twitter) with the phrase “Let’s Moss cancer!” Fans can purchase “Team Moss” apparel with an appeal to “Join Randy Moss in the fight against cancer.”
During a recent episode of College GameDay, Moss’s ESPN colleagues wished him well live on-air. Moss has been a mainstay on ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown and his “You got Moss’d!” segment is traditionally a fan-favorite.
While it sounds like Moss’s outlook is positive, his recovery will be something to monitor moving forward.
