Super Bowl LIX set: Philadelphia Eagles to face Kansas City Chiefs

Super Bowl LIX is officially set. NFC champion Philadelphia will face AFC champion Kansas City on Feb. 9 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans (6:30 p.m. ET).

The Philadelphia Eagles had no problem with the Washington Commanders in the NFC title game, the opening game of Championship Sunday. Philadelphia was led to a 55-23 home victory thanks to big games from stars Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts.

Barkley continued his dominance of Washington, making it a 3rd multi-touchdown game against the Commanders this season as he rushed for 3 scores. Hurts also had 3 rushing scores, passing Steve Young for most QB rushing TDs in playoff history. The former Alabama and Oklahoma QB added a passing touchdown to former Ole Miss WR AJ Brown for a 4-score game.

For the final spot, the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills delivered another thrilling back-and-forth battle. in the AFC Championship Game. In a game that saw all kinds of drama and many lead changes, the Chiefs came away with a 32-29 victory.

Patrick Mahomes, playing in his 132nd professional game, logged multiple rushing touchdowns for the first time in his career. He also had a passing touchdown to former Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy. The Chiefs’ rushing attack was led by Kareem Hunt.

Kansas City will seek to make NFL history as the first team to 3-peat in the Super Bowl.
